Representative Hall introduces legislation to increase transparency by requiring video streaming of House legislative sessions
On Wednesday the 27th of February Representative Hall introduced legislation that will require the proceedings of the N.C. House of Representatives to be broadcasted live to the general public and to study the feasibility of televising all sessions. Currently, North Carolina is one of only seven states that does not provide video webcasts of their legislative sessions.
“We‘re doing the business of the public and the public should have the ability to tune in and keep a watch on what their government is doing.” said Rep. Destin Hall (R-Caldwell).
Under the legislation, the general public would have video access of the House’s daily legislative sessions and the University of North Carolina Center for Public Television (UNCTV) would have the ability to broadcast daily sessions that are of particular public importance.
